Inside the Paper 1 November IB Business Walkway Ltd Case Studies

The November 2025 IB Business Paper 1 is all about Walkway Ltd, and if you’ve taught Paper 1 before, you know the drill. Students read the pre-release, highlight a few key terms, and then stare at you like “what do we actually do with this?”
That’s where practice case studies come in. They’re the best way to get students thinking, applying, and (hopefully) building some confidence before the real exam.
So what’s inside this set? I pulled out different ideas from the Walkway Ltd pre-release and built each case study around them:
One focuses on CSR and sustainability: solar panels, carbon footprint, carbon neutrality. Perfect for weaving in ethics and operations.
Another tackles outsourcing and offshoring. Walkway currently outsources, but I added offshoring so students can practice comparing the two.
The third looks at motivation when people work for ethical objectives instead of just chasing money.
There’s a lot of variety here, which means students don’t just get the same old “one advantage, one disadvantage” style questions. Sure, there are a few of those (good for quick wins), but most questions push students to think a little deeper. They may not have seen the exact wording before, but that’s the point—they’ll have to use their business brains and all that Walkway context to figure it out.
And let’s be honest, application is still where so many students lose marks. These case studies are written to make sure they practice applying again and again, until it finally sticks. And if students are still struggling, the markscheme lay out detailed answers to show them what good application looks like.
For us as teachers, it’s a time saver. You’ve got ready-made, exam-style questions that hit the syllabus and keep students on their toes. For students, it’s an easy way to revise on their own without falling into the trap of passive note-taking.
So whether you’re running a whole-class review or helping a student who wants to do extra practice at home, these case studies are built to make Paper 1 prep feel more real and a lot less stressful.
